This water, often shared with livestock and exposed to pollutants, poses severe health risks such as diarrhea, cholera, and other waterborne diseases, especially for children.

The scarcity of clean water doesn't just impact health—it affects education and economic development as well. Children, particularly girls, frequently miss school to assist their families in water collection. This disrupts their education and limits their future opportunities. Additionally, the time and energy spent fetching water could be used for income-generating activities or farming, further impacting the livelihood of these rural communities.
